The Hamparyan Difference
Not all personal injury law firms are created equal. We believe in providing a superior level of service and experience for our clients.
Many personal injury attorneys boast a high case win percentage, but very few of these lawyers accept high stakes cases that require trial. Our firm routinely takes on complicated, high stakes cases that other lawyers aren’t qualified to handle. Simply put, our law firm wins cases other firms won’t accept, while maintaining a win percentage above most other attorneys.
Robert Hamparyan is one of the most respected personal injury lawyers in San Diego (and California), with over 40 different individual clients settlements over 1 million dollars. He has won virtually every award and accolade in the business, and is constantly being referred high stakes cases by other personal injury attorneys.
Many other personal injury law firms will try to quickly settle cases without a trial appearance, even if it means accepting a lower settlement. We’re always willing and prepared to take cases to trial, constantly pursuing maximum compensation for our clients. There are very few other lawyers in San Diego, or California, who can match our trial experience.
We truly care about our clients and their families. Our job is to understand your story and the pain you’re experiencing. You’re not just another case here at Hamparyan Personal Injury Lawyers San Diego, and we will do everything in our power to ensure you receive the highest level of care and case outcome available.
We believe the best way to judge a law firm is by their results. There are few personal injury attorneys here in San Diego who can match the proven track record of our firm. With over 100 million recovered, 40 individual settlements in excess of 1 million dollars, and numerous high stakes cases won, we’re San Diego’s go to personal injury law firm.
While this doesn’t directly affect your case, our firm cares deeply about our beloved city of San Diego, and is involved in many local charities and organizations to help others. Don’t be surprised to see our team over at the local animal shelter, or donating holiday essentials seasonally.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between a personal injury lawyer and a trial lawyer?
While the majority of attorneys advertising their services may claim the two are the same, that couldn’t be farther from the truth.
You should ask the attorney you are interviewing if he or she has personally tried similar civil matters and what those results were. You should ask them how many trials, what types of cases, what their success ratios are.
We pride ourselves in taking cases with the mindset that the matter will eventually be tried in a courtroom with jurors who are voices of our community. That belief and the planning helps us get ready for the trials and gives our clients the best results. Insurance companies are put to the test of either paying the reasonable value of the case before trial or having a jury deliver a stronger message if they don’t.
Don’t be afraid to ask the tough questions, as you will only get your best match when you are satisfied with the answers.
How do I find the right lawyer for me?
Your attorney should be someone that you can trust to handle your legal matters because of his or her knowledge, skill and experience in those specific fields.
When interviewing your prospective attorney, ask them to provide you with examples of cases they handled similar to your case and the results they obtained for their clients.
Ask them how often they go to trial, how many trials they have had, what their results or successes have been over their careers, how many cases on the average does their office handle at any specific time, and what the ratio of lawyers to cases is in the office.
Ask how many cases the firm handles at any time. Be specific to ask for all the cases including the clients they have were the lawsuit isn’t filed yet but they still represent them. This is very important, because you want your attorney or firm to dedicate a majority of his or her time to your case and not one were you are a statistic when handling 50, 100 or more cases at any time.
At our firm, we have 3 attorneys and we accept and represent a few clients at any time. We dedicate our resources and time to doing the best for the few and make sure to maximize their recovery.
Remember that you or your loved one deserves the personal care and attention you deserve.
What else should I look for when finding my lawyer?
Is the law firm and their attorney from your town or do they only advertise in your town to get clients without a real personal presence? This is important if you want your case handled by a lawyer who has practiced and is a part of your community and has the experience with the trial attorneys against you or the assigned trial judge or judges in your local courthouse. The mutual respect and relationships even with adversaries work to your advantage if you have your local counsel.
What professional credentials or awards of excellence did your attorney obtain in his or her field? Those would include but not limited to trial associations for those who have tried a required number of cases in order to become members like ABOTA or more exclusive associations for trial excellence that are inclusive only by invitation and after meticulous vetting such as the ACTL or the American College of Trial Lawyers. Other important factors like trial stars awards or Trial lawyer awards which are given to those who achieve great results for their clients in courtrooms. Ask your perspective attorneys what they have obtained over their careers and why they received them.
How many years has your attorney practiced in your community? This is important and may not be critical when considered alone. But a lawyer who has dedicated himself or herself to serving their community for many years with a successful record is likely the better choice.
The volume of practice. More is not better. Not when it comes to you as the client among possibly 100 or more other clients waiting to have your cases handled by the attorney or his staff. The time spent handling your case and giving you the personal attention that you deserve will be directly affected by the many others handled by the lawyer or firm with many cases. Everyone loses when that happens. Our office is dedicated to screening our clients and cases. We take a few cases at any time so we are able to focus on quality of representation instead of volume of clients. We can then maximize the results for our clients.
Bar and discipline record. This may be crucial for you or your family member when looking for your representative. Ask your lawyer if he or she has ever been disciplined, and if so, why? The reasons are clear and easy to understand if it effects their honesty or integrity to you as their client.
What will this cost?
The contingency fee means that an attorney who is handling your case will not or should not take any monies or charge fees upfront before is decided by either a settlement or a verdict at some later date. This allows you or your loved ones to seek the justice you deserve without concerns about how you could pay for or finance your case. The costs vary and include filing fees, investigation fees, record copying fees, deposition and court reporting fees, expert review and testimony costs, demonstrative exhibits and video recreations for trial among many others.
Those costs could range from a few thousand to hundreds of thousands of dollars for one case.
The attorney handling your case would be entitled to be paid his or her costs along with the agreed fees at the conclusion of the case if you have a successful result.
Again, the agreed fees are a matter of community accepted standards of the lawyers practicing in the field of personal injury. An attorney agreeing to charge less is not necessarily the better attorney for you. You get what you pay for and a few percentage points will not affect your result as much as the quality of “lawyering” and the amount of time and effort by the lawyer and his firm.
If I or a family member is unfortunately injured, what are my first steps?
First things first. Take care of yourself and your family’s injury and care needs. Go to the hospital, emergency room or urgent care. Explain the injury and symptoms carefully and follow the treating physicians’ recommendations.
At the scene of the incident, make sure and take the information or names of the witnesses and parties involved. Record the information of the make or model of car or cars that impacted you. Take photos with your phone of the damages or things you observe if possible.
Next, do not provide statements recorded or otherwise to the adjusters or insurance claims personnel that may call you for the driver of the other vehicle before your injuries are clear and you aren’t under the cloud of the medications and pain. This will inevitably be used against you in an unfair and inconsistent manner. You have a duty to cooperate with your insurance company and you should.
Tell the truth and do not guess.
Finally, Call your attorney and provide him or her with all the records and information that you kept for your claim.
